Biography:
Michael Dolero, more known in Pinoy Hip-Hop as Syke, is one of the most talented lyricists in The Philippines.
Dolero’s career in hip-hop started when he won numerous rap competitions under Andrew E.’s Drive-By Show on DM 95.5 FM. He became one of Dongalo Wreckords’ first roster of artists and was featured in the label’s first compilation album, R.A.P. – Rap Artists of The Philippine Islands back in 1996.
After a few years, Dolero left the label and joined Boom Dayupay’s Vibestation Entertainment, releasing his “self-titled” studio album back in 1999. While under Vibestation Entertainment, Dolero worked in production while at the same time, exploried “traditional Southern Philippine musical instruments” and fused them into his music.
More than a decade after, Dolero joined Locked Down Entertainment and released his second studio album, RipRap back in 2017.
Syke’s music is mainly poetical, with lyrics of self-expression. This is accompanied by his mellow but effective vocal delivery and is why many considered him as one of the best MCs in The Philippines.
